

FRONT LINER YOUTH (FLY) 2018: CREATING AN IMPACT AT BRICKFIELDS ASIA COLLEGE

The 2nd Front Liner Youth (FLY) Event gloriously took place at Brickfields Asia College (BAC), Petaling Jaya Campus on Saturday, 17th March 2018. In collaboration with BAC’s Make It Right Movement, the event was infused with lots more engaging activities and programmes focused on the get goal of entrepreneurship.
newevent welcomed full-dayThe line of speakers and mentors starting with Raja Singham, Managing Director of BAC Education Group. His workshop session which focused on the individual personal growth shifted the participant’s perspective and views about being an entrepreneur and a person as a whole.
Besides Mr. Singham’s workshop, participants were also enthralled with the ‘Emotional Intelligence’ workshop conducted by Hetal Doshi, CEO of O Psych which highlighted the importance of managing the emotional aspect of business as well as others surrounding them in daily life.
“It was really good for entrepreneur and also people in corporate life because you always go through emotional challenges in the workplace. I would recommend it to everyone to attend and sit for this session”, told Baali Omar, a young working professional from SWIFT Malaysia.
New to the event was the opportunity given to the participants to pitch their business ideas in front of the audiences and potential investors. The objective is to support the ideas and growth of youth entrepreneurship in the Malaysian environment and to have insider look and views on the startup's ability to scale. The panel of judges includes Zaffuan Zin, Co-Founder of MARA Digital Kuala Lumpur; Brian Tan, CEO and Co-Founder of Futurelab and Hetal Doshi.
“The event today was an eye-opener for me especially when the participants pitch their ideas and how the judges give comments and feedback about it. I learned from what the judges said and it gives me insights on what I should know in starting my own business,” said Tan Yi Jie from Monash University.
FLY also retained their most celebrated Empowerment Talk Show with having guest speakers to talk about their entrepreneurial journey. The line of speakers were Gurpreet Singh, Co-Founder of Me.reka Makerspace; Mushamir Mustafa; Founder of Humans of Kuala Lumpur; and Jeffrey and Jason Lee; Founders of Grindz Malaysia.
“In this event I learned that entrepreneurship is not just about making profits but you have to give value to the customers and the team that you are working with”, says Muhamad Shahid Noordin from Universiy of Malaya.
On the other hand, Abdul Hakim Mohd Noor from Universiti Teknologi MARA said “This event is refreshing because I got to meet new friends and gain knowledge from mentors and speakers. There are a lot of things I learnt here that I know I won’t get elsewhere.”
The first FLY Event successfully took place last year International University of Malaya –Wales with attendance of participants from 10 different universities across Malaysia. This year FLY managed to attract 20 universities and organisationsat with attendance of 100 participants in total.
